Windows Server 2008: System Beeps in RDP Sessions
Written by Administrator

Ever since I have been using XenServer to host my testing environment I have been having issues with annoying beeps in RDP sessions to my test machines. All test machines are either Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista SP1 machines. As in XenServer guests there is nothing like the the hidden device “Beep”, for which normally you would stop the service and set it to “disabled” in the device manager, there had to be another way way to get rid of these beeps.

Latest version of Citrix XenApp is version 5. This article describes the installation and provide you with scripts to do the installation silent. The Citrix XenApp 5 on Windows Server 2008 document extensively use scripts which preferably are stored on a network location so they can be run from any server going to be installed in the Citrix XenApp 5 farm. By using the same scripting set on all servers in the farm we can guarantee a standardized farm with the least problems.

Windows Server 2008: How to remove Hibernation File

In this short article I want to explain how to remove the hibernate.sys from Windows Server 2008 systems.

All systems installed with Windows Server 2008 will have the "hibernation" functionality active. This results in a file being created on the system drive that will allow the system to go into hibernation. This file can be as large as the internal memory of the system, so this can be rather large on some systems.

Also want to try Windows 7?? Microsoft has recently released their new OS in “Release Candidate” and I must tell it looks and feels great. Citrix XenServer is a great hypervisor platform and allows you to run all kind of operating systems and start playing with for example the new Windows 7 before running it live on your desktop or laptop. My colleagues of Login Consultants and bloggers for We-Blog wrote a nice article on how to install Windows 7 in a XenServer environment. Also they created a cool XenServer template. here’s the link to their article:

Citrix XenApp 4.5: Installation on Windows 2003 Server
Written by Administrator

Let's start of with some simple though less documented installation. Citrix XenApp 4.5 is one of the installation with which a decent and standardized terminal server environment starts. Whenever we can say that all installations of Citrix XenApp 4.5 are done in the same fashion the farm will be as stable as can be. This document extensively used scripts which need to stored on a network location so they can be run from any server going to be installed in the Citrix XenApp 4.5 farm. Good luck.........
